Made to Measure

In a world where microtrends, fast fashion and disposability have become the new norm, Gentlefolk stands out as a beacon of both quality and enduring style. Thanks to our extensive Made to Measure program, we can create a unique wardrobe for you that will endure both in quality and style.

By choosing our Made to Measure services, Gentlefolk is able to ensure you never have to make a concession again. Our tailoring program allows you to create garments to your exact specifications, offering a wide range of design choices. Our fabrics are sourced from renowned mills such as Loro Piana, Drapers, Holland & Sherry, Drago and many more, providing every shade, weight or hue imaginable.

All items ordered in our Made to Measure program are produced in Europe and finished by hand. After getting measured and placing an order you can expect the delivery of a finished product in eight weeks’ time, subject to minor tweaks such as hemming the trousers, taking in or letting out the waist, and other finetuning.

How does it work?

1.       Cloth

We start our made to measure process with a conversation about the occasion for your future garment. By understanding the purpose of your commission, we can recommend cloths that are most suitable for your specific needs. After we have a good understanding of this, we go through a vast selection of fabrics together. This way we can pick the most suitable fabric for you.

2.       Design

After picking a cloth, we will discuss the stylistic details of your commission. We will decide features like the shape of the lapels, the type of pockets, the specific jacket closure, and many more. The reason we complete these steps before taking your measurements, is that these choices have an impact on what the finished measurements should be, in order to create a balanced garment.

3.       Measurements

After the fabric selection and discussing the design options we take your measurements. We do this based on our house-cut pattern that we have sampled out in suits in different sizes that you can try on. This makes it easier for you to visualise what the suit will look like. All measurements we take will be saved by us, so that returning clients do not have to repeat this process. Upon completing these steps, we will place your order with our atelier.

4.       Finalisation

Around eight weeks after your order has been placed, your suit will be delivered in a finished state. We will then conduct a fitting, making sure the garment fits well and meets expectations. This step usually requires minor finetuning, such as hemming the trousers, tweaking the sleeve length or adjusting the leg opening. If this is the case, we will conduct a final fitting, approximately one week later.
